Powder-sintered porous materials are generally made from spherical or irregularly shaped metal or alloy powders by forming and sintering. They are characterized by good permeability, adjustable pore size and porosity, large specific surface area, resistance to high and low temperatures, and resistance to thermal shock.
Powder-sintered porous metal materials are an early development of a pore size of less than 0.3mm, pore rate is generally not higher than 30%, but can also be made through a special process of pore rate of more than 30% of the product. In metallurgy, the chemical industry and other sectors, in order to strengthen certain processes, often need high temperature and high pressure, the corresponding requirements of high temperature, high-pressure filtration, and separation of materials; in the catalytic reaction, the need for the high surface area of the catalyst material in order to provide the largest possible translation of the contact surface; in order to ensure the safe and reliable work of aviation and hydraulic systems, the need for all kinds of oils and gases to carry out a rigorous fine filtration; aviation and rocketry High-temperature working part requires high-temperature-resistant and heat-shock-resistant porous materials with uniform pore structure to be the base for dispersion cooling, and so on. General organic, ceramic or glass and other porous body is always difficult to meet the strength, plasticity, high temperature, and other conditions of use, powder metallurgy porous metal materials to a certain extent make up for the shortcomings of the above types of porous materials, and thus the rapid development of the 1960s, titanium, and other corrosion-resistant, heat-resistant powder sintered porous products and special-purpose porous tungsten, tantalum and refractory metal compounds and other porous materials. Material development, so far, the mass production and application of powder-sintered porous materials are mainly stainless steel, nickel and nickel alloys, and titanium.
