Key Factors in Vacuum Annealing of GR2 and GR1 Titanium foil strips

Jun 05, 2024

High Purity Titanium Foil And Strip materials are currently a relatively large amount of used products. Pure titanium has excellent cold working performance with a rolling processing rate of more than 70%. The key to its industrial technology of titanium foil and strip is to choose a reasonable processing technology and heat treatment system, especially the choice of heat treatment system is particularly important. Usually used in the vacuum annealing furnace for annealing treatment, annealing temperature and holding time are two important process parameters. When the annealing temperature is low, recrystallization is not sufficient, and the annealing temperature is high for coarse grains. When the material is annealed under a vacuum, the heat transfer is mainly by means of thermal radiation and the heat transfer is slow. Therefore, there should be enough holding time to make the internal and external temperature of the material (in the coil state) uniform and fully recrystallized. GR2 titanium foil and strip for the thickness of 0.2 × W:280 × L mm, single-volume weight 15-20kg, volume outside diameter of 200mm, The selection of vacuum annealing process is as follows: temperature 600-680°C, holding for 1-4h. The mechanical properties after annealing are shown in the following table:

In addition to controlling the processing rate and annealing process, the impurity content of the material, especially O and Fe, should be strictly controlled to reduce it to a certain extent. GR1 titanium foil and strip for the thickness of 0.03mm x Width 300mm x L mm, single-volume weight 2kg (volume outer diameter of Ø 70mm), and The selection of vacuum annealing process is as follows: temperature 550-650°C, insulation 6-10h, its mechanical properties after annealing are shown in the following table:
