GR2 Titanium Seamless Tube is the softest titanium yet has the highest ductility. GR2 titanium grades are unalloyed and are generally referred to as CP (commercially pure). The tensile and yield strengths of titanium typically increase with grade. Titanium is 30% stronger than steel but nearly 50% lighter. 5. Manufacturing Process of Titanium Gr.2 Seamless tube:

1. Preparation of billet bar: Titanium sponge is smelted into finished titanium ingots through a vacuum self-consumption electric arc furnace, and then forged (rolled) into a billet bar.

2. billet bar machining: the billet bar is sawed into a billet of length 650-4500mm, then centered by a horizontal centering machine; then the defects on the surface of the billet are turned by a skinning machine.

3. Oblique rolling and perforating: the billet is heated to 700-980°C and perforated 1-2 times with a two-roller oblique rolling unit, after perforating, the barren pipe is made.

4. Cold rolling: the outer surface of the barren tube made after the oblique rolling and perforating is repaired and ground, then the two-roller cold rolling unit, multi-roller cold rolling unit, and so on are used for rolling (i.e. cold rolling), and after each completed rolling, it is degreased, annealed, pickled and straightened, so that the finished product is made after cyclic rolling and processing; the annealing temperature of semi-finished products in cyclic rolling and processing: 750-850°C + air cooling, time 20-100min 100min

5. Finished products heat treatment and performance inspection, storage: the finished products will be heat treated, annealing temperature: 700-800°C + air cooling, time 20-100min; then according to technical requirements for flaw detection, performance inspection, storage.

 

6. Quality testing methods of Titanium Seamless tube：

Welded tubes: Reverse crush test for welded tubes according to the test method, using both NDT test and ultrasonic test methods; and tested using hydrostatic or pneumatic test methods.

Seamless and welded/cold-finished tubes: tested using ultrasonic test methods and tested using electromagnetic or hydrostatic or pneumatic test methods.
