Some Valuable Insights and Suggestions We have summarized our production of Medical Titanium Alloys

1. Performance requirements for titanium materials used in medical devices and our company's production principles for titanium materials in this special field: Titanium and titanium alloy materials used in medical devices have their own peculiarities. In addition to mechanical properties, there are strict requirements for tissue and internal quality to ensure that there are no failures during use and that they have a sufficient service life. Therefore, when producing this material, it must be treated as a product for important purposes. From the level and granularity of raw material sponge titanium, the chemical composition of the ingot, the control of the formation of microstructure through heat processing, and the ultrasonic inspection of internal defects during factory delivery, multiple links are controlled to ensure product quality.

Our company produces surgical implants and medical devices using titanium and titanium alloy products according to the requirements for producing military products (including aerospace, aviation, weapons, etc.). We carefully select raw material sponge titanium to ensure 100% high-quality sponge titanium. The production process strictly follows the control requirements for military products, and the metallographic structure meets the requirements specified in Appendix ASTM F67 and ASTM F136 standards. All products leaving the factory are inspected by a national key laboratory.

The Grade 5 φ6.0mm and φ60mm rods we provide fully comply with the ASTM F136 standard requirements, with a metallographic rating of A1.

In addition to strictly implementing the ASTM F136 standard, our company also controls the level and granularity of sponge titanium. We ensure 100% use of high-quality sponge titanium.

Material selection recommendations for special medical device titanium materials:

First, I would recommend GR.5 as the first choice.

Because GR.5 accounts for more than 65% of the titanium materials currently used in the United States, materials with the same grade but different properties can be obtained by controlling the organization of heat treatment and material processing. Our company can provide two samples for you to retest. If they can meet your requirements, it will indeed prove that our materials are different from those provided by other manufacturers. The anti-fatigue performance of the material is absolutely related to the composition of the material and the metallographic structure obtained after processing. Our products are specifically designed to meet these requirements.

Secondly, we can also provide GR12 alloy.

GR12 alloy is a high-alloyed titanium alloy used to produce recoilless guns and pull rod antennas on submarines that require seismic and fatigue resistance. Mostly used at room temperature.

GR12 alloy is a two-phase titanium alloy with high strength, sufficient plasticity, and toughness at room temperature. Its room temperature strength is 100 MPa higher than GR.5, and its plasticity is equivalent to or slightly higher than that of GR.5. We control the impurity interstitial elements and the metallographic structure after processing according to the requirements of ASTM F136 standards, especially the ability to control the metallographic structure in a fine equiaxed state, which meets the customer's requirements for use.

Helping customers choose and use titanium is our company's advantage.

Because the alloying of GR12 alloy is relatively complicated, and its processing difficulty is high, the manufacturing cost is relatively high, and the material is more expensive. Compared with other high-strength and high-temperature titanium alloys other than GR5, GR12 is relatively cheaper.

Other titanium alloys can also be chosen besides GR5 and GR12, which are high-strength and high-temperature titanium alloys.
