Nickel-titanium shape memory alloy, as we know as Nitinol or NiTi, is a unique material with shape memory alloy (that returns to its original shape after being deformed at a certain temperature. ) and super elastic function. It is typically made of 55%-56% nickel and 44%-45% titanium. Small variations in composition can greatly affect its properties.

We have two main categories of Nickel-Titanium Shape Memory alloy Wire. The first category is known as "super-elastic" and is characterized by superb recovery after many repeated kinks. In the second category, "shape memory" alloys, When Nitinol is heated beyond its transition temperature (also called austenite surface temperature), it changes from the martensitic phase (deformed state) to the austenitic phase (original shape). The transition is reversible, meaning that Nitinol can return to its original shape when cooled below the transition temperature.
